In the year of Presidential elections more than one political book has been published. Why should this one be one you buy? Because it will last the ages. It is not so much a political book, but a recant of America’s history.
Under God is the perfect title for this short-story collection. With chapters like:
A Declaration of Dependence.
On God: The Signing of the Declaration of Independence,
Tired of Giving: Rasa Parks,
The United Cry of the Nation: Abe Lincoln,
As a mother, as a Christian: Harriet Beecher Stowe
You read the first chapter and just keep going.
This book doesn’t tell a different story but it does remind us of America’s birth of freedom and freedom’s journey and struggle to keep it here.
Sometimes we forget or take for granted the freedoms we do enjoy. Some would like to say we just always had them. Freedom is because it is. But, this book shows the sacrifices made to bring freedom. Lives lost to keep freedom. And, despite the loftiest intentions of some, freedom isn’t free.
I encourage every family to have this on their bookshelf and possibly donating a book to your public library or school. Broken up in sections it is an easy to use book, and the authors (Christian music’s dcTalk) bring us fresh insight to old tales. You’ll like it. And, maybe even learn something new.
Highly recommended by me!
