Going back home to Tasmania was the last thing Sally Frank wanted to do, but her step-father passed away and she wanted to be there for her mother. Sally had left five years ago after discovering that she’d been betrayed by the man she’d been in love with since she was a young girl. She’d spent these years working herself ragged and even though she’s dated, no man could ever live up to Mac, the man who’d broken her heart.
Mac Boswell found a soul mate in little Sally Frank. Despite their age difference, their mutual love of horses only served to cement their friendship. But as Sally grew, Mac found it difficult to keep his feelings at bay. On the night of her seventeenth birthday, he’d planned to make it a night she’d never forget, by giving her her first kiss as an adult woman. And she never did forget that night, only it wasn’t because of his kiss.
The minute Sally sees Mac again, all the hurt and passion she thought were long gone rush up to the surface and threaten to overwhelm her. It doesn’t matter that long ago she pledged her body and her life to Mac Boswell, he broke her trust and she isn’t going to let him forget it. Mac is astounded at the woman Sally has become, beautiful and independent. The feelings he’s kept in check for years because of her age are there on the surface waiting for her to acknowledge them, but her constant refusal to accept that he never betrayed her could be the end of their happiness.
TARNISHED DREAMS will bring back memories of your first crush, that guy you think you’ll love forever. For most of us that was probably the guy on the poster on our bedroom wall, right? Mac Boswell is one for the books. He’s the hero little girls would want on their posters, the hunky veterinarian. I liked Sally too, but was about to strangle her after a while because of her stubbornness. Who could continue to refuse a hero like Mac? Despite the conflict between the characters, and probably because of it, Trisha McGill’s book leaves the reader with what every little girl hopes for, happily ever after.
