Wealthy
wife of a selfish politician, Elm MacBride, was born and raised for her
role
along side a man of his stature and hadn’t planned to make any changes
in her life. Until the
day she learns that her husband, Harlan, has betrayed her in the worst
possible
way. Elm leaves her home in Savannah and heads to Switzerland
to be alone and search
her heart and soul for the answers to many questions and to seek some
guidance
in where to go from here.
In Switzerland,
Elm’s solitude is disrupted by Viscount Johnny Graney, a thoroughbred
horse
breeder who is also vacationing in the foreign country.
Elm is mystified by the instant attraction
she feels for Johnny, when she has always believed the only man for her
was
Harlan. But the more time Elm and Johnny spend together, the deeper
their
feelings become.
But Harlan
MacBride has come after his wife. Even
though she started divorce proceedings before leaving Savannah, Harlan
plans to ensure that Elm
doesn’t ruin his plans to be re-elected.
He plans to honour what might be the only vow he
heard on his wedding
day…’til death do us part.’
Southern Belle by Fiona Hood-Stewart is
a gripping
tale of betrayal, power and love. Elm MacBride never knew what hit her
when she
learned of Harlan’s infidelities. We see
Elm run from her home to find solace in her heart and to regroup. The romance which unfolds between her and
Johnny is sweet and it doesn’t take long for a real connection to
develop
between them. With Harlan on a mission to maintain power over Elm, Southern Belle quickly becomes a
tale of intrigue and suspense that a reader can’t put down.
The
combination of contemporary romance, which starts this tale, and the
romantic
suspense, Ms. Hood-Stewart pens an excellent story for readers of the
two genres
to enjoy. Southern Belle
is highly recommended!
