Newly appointed as a state forest, Silvermist holds many secrets. For Nora Dimitri, it’s a haven for her master’s thesis research. For Eli Jacob, it’s a place for him to leave the past behind. When the two of them collide for one night of passion, it’s a night neither will forget, but for the forest, just another secret to keep.
Six years later, Nora is the new park ranger for Silvermist. Recently widowed, Nora and her son Jed move into the ranger cabin hoping for a new start on life, but Silvermist only brings back memories and feelings from a past that she’s tried to forget.
Eli Jacob, once considered a penniless drifter, is now a millionaire. He’s made his money in real estate investments and is planning on purchasing a large parcel of land just off the Silvermist State Forest land. Millionaire or not, Eli still feels the pull of the forest and decides to camp out for a night.
When Nora goes to investigate an unregistered camper, she gets the shock of a lifetime when the camper turns out to be Eli. All the passion and love she’s buried deep comes welling up in her, but she’s no longer the young, naïve woman she was six years ago. Eli has everything he’s ever wanted, money, but being in Silvermist and seeing Nora again, reaffirms that what he really needs, he lost six years ago, Nora. Eli sets out to woo Nora and is determined to have her in his life, forever this time. Nora fights him every step of the way, and her mistrust of him gets the better of her. She has more that just another broken heart to consider, she has to think of son, Eli’s son, as well.
SILVERMIST is an enchanting book of second chances. Through Kate Snow’s writing, the magic of the forest come through the book and ensnares you so you can’t put the book down until you’ve finished. I really liked Nora. She went from a naïve woman to a mature cautious one, but still held on to her youthful passion for the hunky hero, Eli. I have to admit, Eli ticked me off at the beginning, but he certainly redeemed himself throughout the rest of the book. And that’s what this story is about, redemption, second chances, and the love of a lifetime.
