Although the book is packed with heat, reading REFUGE made me want to find one. A haphazard mix of fantasies from she-animal to BDSM broke the flow of the book so that I couldn’t follow who was doing what. It’s a heavy story packed into a quickie and I feel Vonna Harper did a great job of working those emotions into such a short space. However, I feel justice would have been given to REFUGE, and the reader, if it had been a full-length novel.
