Gemma Hogan
is an events planner who is dealt a harsh blow when her father suddenly
leaves
her mother. This throws her entire world into a tailspin, because her
dependent, incredibly unstable mother now has no one to rely on. Gemma
is
forced to take on full responsibility for her mother. This means that
her
social life flat-lines and her only form of entertainment comes in the
form of
e-mails that she sends to her friend Susan in England.
These e-mails are so
amusing to Susan that she sends them to top literary agent JoJo Harvey,
who
then decides to convince Gemma to write a book telling her sad tale.
JoJo Harvey
is a top literary agent in London.
She is brilliant at what she does, and an absolute marvel to everyone
that
knows her. She is voluptuous and confident, a killer combination. Her
downfall
is that she is carrying on an illicit affair with her married boss. An
affair
that she can’t bear to discontinue because she has gotten her emotions
involved.
Lily Wright
is the overnight success author of Mimi’s Remedies, a book that was
written
after a dramatic event in her life. She and Anton, the love of her
life, and
Gemma’s life as well, live together with their daughter, Ema. She fears
that
she will lose Anton the same way that Gemma lost him, and that her
writing
career will not blossom completely. Stuck with a wacky, dysfunctional
family, a
fiancé whose fledgling business won’t take off, and an urge to
settle down in
suburbia, Lily attempts to pound out some more manuscripts. With Anton
behind
her, and a career that seems to be flourishing, nothing could go wrong.
THE OTHER
SIDE OF THE STORY is brilliant! It is amusing, witty and smart. The
characters
are multi-layered and their personalities spring to life throughout the
pages.
I loved how Ms. Keyes makes each character the center of their own
universe.
Each character has a unique type of personality that brings a clear
picture to
the mind’s eye of the reader. Each of
them has a story to tell, and as they tell it, the reader begins to
grasp a
clear picture that there are two sides to every story, and that to
completely
understand what is going on, it is necessary to get THE OTHER SIDE OF
THE
STORY. Immerse yourself in JoJo, Lily, and Gemma’s stories as they each
fight
their own emotional and personal battles, and try to succeed at the
game of
love.
