Isabel is
drawn to NOCTURNAL URGES, a vampire nightclub that allows humans to
experience
the bites of vampires. Her boyfriend, Duane convinces her to accompany
him to the
club, for her first taste. For a human, the bite will encourage many
foreign
feelings, including a heady satisfaction. She is nervous,
understandably, but
undoubtedly excited by the prospect of having her blood sucked,
especially when
she sees who will be doing the sucking. Ryan
is the vampire who has the pleasure of being the first to bite Isabel.
Immediately following her initiation, she begins dreaming of Ryan, and
wants to
visit NOCTURNAL URGES again, to experience more. However, her feelings
of
pleasure are shaded by feelings of fear, because people are ending up
dead
following their visit to the nightclub. All of the fingers seem to be
pointing
at Ryan. Isabel can’t believe that he is the one that is doing the
killing. He
is constantly on her mind and in her thoughts. She has become consumed
with the
very idea of him and is throwing Duane aside and seeking more of Ryan.
In the
midst of a murder investigation, her feelings for Ryan begin to
blossom, and
she finds it impossible to believe that Ryan is a cold-blooded killer.
There
must be a way to prove his innocence…
Ryan is a
handsome, sexy vampire who seems much better suited to an earlier time.
He is
intrigued by Isabel, tempted by her taste. When she continues to visit
him, he
is turned on all the more, wanting to taste her essence, even getting
lost in
the experience. That is something that is very unusual for a vampire.
Yet his
life is threatened when he is suspected of murdering some visitors to
the club.
With no alibi, he can’t even attempt to defend himself. How can he
prove that
he isn’t a murderer? Is there any chance that he can convince Isabel of
that
fact, and persuade her to enjoy their intriguing relationship?
Duane is
Isabel’s boyfriend, the one who convinced her to try NOCTURNAL URGES to
begin
with. Now she is addicted to the bite, and wanting less and less to do
with
him. He is infuriated by the very idea of her going to the club without
him.
She is his girlfriend and he should with her when she is being bitten.
Of course
he is jealous by the fact that she seems to be casting him aside for
more the
blood sucking experience. Will he be able to hold on to Isabel now that
she has
tasted the forbidden? Is their sexual relationship enough to surpass
what she
is experiencing with Ryan?
NOCTURNAL
URGES is an extremely different vampire story. The bites that go on in
this
story are wanted by the individuals that receive them. NOCTURNAL URGES
is a
place where humans can go and be a part of the subculture roaming among
them. The
very idea of such a place existing is tantalizing. Ms. Donald creates
mysterious characters that radiate sex appeal and sensuality. Isabel craves Ryan, even when she doesn’t want
to. Her feelings are complicated by the presence of Duane, her
boyfriend who
doesn’t come close to satisfying her the way that Ryan does. Duane
plays the
part of the jealous boyfriend who fears losing his girlfriend to a
vampire, not
something that happens everyday. Yet Isabel and Ryan is a couple who
can’t seem
to deny the feelings that they have for each other. Their intense
feelings and
sexual chemistry make for an interesting storyline. If you enjoy
vampire tales,
you will enjoy this one, it is unusual, strangely sensual, and of
course, sexy
as well.
