Gwyneth
Wells needs a P.I. She’s being stalked, and her overprotective uncle
feels that
she needs to be watched over and kept safe. THE MAN FOR THE JOB seems
to be
Mike Carlton -- her uncle is insistent that he is more than qualified to
protect
her. However, she can’t stand the man! Everything about him infuriates
her,
from the way that he dresses and talks like a P.I. from an old black
and white
movie, to how he kissed her moments after meeting her. How dare he
assume that
he can follow her around night and day, invade her space, and kiss her
senseless whenever he feels like it? She’s going to prove to him that
she
doesn’t need a P.I., and that she is perfectly capable of taking care
of
herself. That is, until she is attacked and Mike Carlton rescues her,
changing
everything. Maybe Mike is just who Gwyneth needs to keep her
safe,
protected, and even loved.
Mike
Carlton was attracted to Gwyneth Wells from the moment that she walked
into his
office. He can’t help but act on that feeling. She refuses to let him
help her,
and he refuses to leave her alone. There is someone out there who wants
to hurt
Gwyneth, and it is his job to make sure they don’t succeed. It is just
a perk
of the job that he gets to be close to her night and day. Hopefully, in
the
midst of all of this drama, he can make her fall in love with him, and
prove to
her that not only is he THE MAN FOR THE JOB to protect her, but also
for loving
her for life as well.
THE MAN FOR
THE JOB is adorable! Mike and Gwyneth heat up the pages with their
vintage
style romance. Ms. Ryan has created a character that is reminiscent of
a P.I.
from an old movie, even down to his dialogue. He is arrogant, charming,
and
completely overbearing. He makes up his mind that he wants Gwyn, and
stops at
nothing to get her. As hard as she fights against him, it is inevitable
that
she will give in to his charm. The struggle of these two strong-willed
people
to get together combined with the suspense of a murder mystery, the
questionable antics of a stalker and a crazy family weekend makes this
novel a
humorous, enjoyable read.
