A man from the past winds
up in the present, having been
frozen in perfect cryogenic hibernation for over 2000 years. Everything
old is
new all over again, as Kel awakens to a very different world. The
military brings in linguist Allie O'Shea to attempt to communicate with
their latest top secret "lab rat".
And communicate she does, but some things prove to
be older than time.
Like the immediate attraction Kel and Allie feel for one another…until
the
military decides he's a risk and she overhears orders being given to
dissect
Kel.
Allie chooses to act. She
can't let them kill a person, no
matter how long ago he was born, or how he got to be where he is now.
With a
refreshing dose of common sense and courage, Allie is determined to do
the
right thing, against the odds of surviving in the Alaskan winter.
Allie and Kel are
delightful characters, thrown together in
the middle of nowhere, surrounded by the threats the modern world can
hold for
a guy who's been out of circulation for over 2000 years. Ms. Winston's
sense of
humor adds that touch of whimsy that seems to invade the impossible as
only
those of us who know it first hand can attest.
This reviewer cheered for
Allie's resourcefulness and down
to earth manner as well as the very real touches in Kel's experiences
with the
world as we know it. Their passion will curl a reader's toes and leave
her
wishing for an Ice Man of her very
own to curl up with. Put this one in the PDA and leave it there for a
refresher
on how to laugh, love and take on the world on one's own terms!
