Alex Perry has been awarded a grant to photograph the Alaskan wilderness. Alex will be a part of Dr. Nicholas “Hawk” Sheppard’s camp. A woman is the last thing Hawk wants in his camp so Alex has to go, but she has other ideas and leaving definitely isn’t one of them. Because of her name, Hawk thought Alex was a guy. Alex misinterprets Hawks dislike of women to mean he’s gay.
For good reason, Hawk doesn’t trust women and Alex is no exception. Hawk is in Alaska to study the rivers and lakes for the Native Corporation and he has no intention of letting Alex hold him back or prevent him from completing this study. A woman in a camp full of men can only mean trouble and Hawk’s determined to keep things platonic.
After only a couple of days at camp, the Alaskan weather throws Alex and Hawk together when her inadequate tent can’t hold up to the elements. Hawk puts her in his tent and the sexual tension starts to grow. Can Hawk and Alex continue to fight the growing attraction between them?
RUNNING FROM LOVE is intense in the beginning, funny in the middle and coasts into a smooth finish. My first time to read author Kathryn Anne Dubois and her work lived up to my expectations. I will definitely look for her work again. The secondary characters were well developed and likeable. My favorites were Scott, Runner and Sister. Searing sexual tension, hidden secrets, the Alaskan wilderness and terrific characters make RUNNING FROM LOVE a very enjoyable book.
