Jessica Stewart and Tom Winters have been best friends for 16 years. Jess doesn’t know what she would without him, he knows everything about her including likes and dislikes, failed relationships, etc. but even Tom will be surprised with Jess’s new, somewhat risky plan to meet a man.
Tom Winters pines for Jess. Yet, she seems clueless to his true feelings and is content being friends. Why else would she ask him to help fill out the ridiculous on-line dating form? Tom is afraid if Jess knew his true feelings they’d have no relationship at all. When I job offer from out of town lands on his desk, Tom can’t decide whether he should stay, or go. Maybe being away from Jess will turn on the ‘out of sight out of mind’ mode in him.
Jess’s innocence and circumstances in her life and Tom’s heart-breaking angst is enough to keep the pages turning. The play between the two is immediate and fun. Even while you wonder where the writers will take us next….you get there with a smile.
Authors Toback and Billerbeck give us great settings, well developed characters, and bring us to the final answer, which is always – when we put God first, the rest will follow.
