Corri Dunn had worked long and hard to get her post as captain of the Avery McKenna, a very powerful starship. She had sacrificed time, friends, and her love, Devin Tremaine. Two warring groups, the Allied Planets Coalition and the United Free Planets Alliance are in a race to take hold of a newly discovered planet Adhara VII. When Corri receives orders to escort an archeological team to Adhara VII she follows them as any other good soldier would do. However, the more she looks into the mission, the more she realizes she doesn’t really know her mission at all. Her confusion is compounded when she finds out Devin Tremaine is on his way to the Adhara VII system as well.
As an orphan, Devin Tremaine was plucked from the streets by Carlton Starkey, a wealthy businessman. Devin’s loyalty to Carlton has been unquestionable. In fact, it was one of the reasons he’d lost Corri six years ago. When Carlton asks him to take a known assassin to Adhara VII, Devin does so out of loyalty, but his unquestionable faith begins to waiver. He’s unsure of Carlton’s alliances and uncertain of Corri’s reaction to his presence. But he is sure of one thing; his feelings for Corri are still strong. Now if only he can convince her to give them a second chance.
Corri and Devin are not prepared for what greets them when they arrive on Adhara VII. It’s a planet very much like Earth, but secrets and deceptions are around every corner for Corri and Devin. Together they must save an ancient civilization and the universe from an evil, greedy man. But together means they will have to lay aside their old hurts and trust each other again. The heat and passion are still there between them, as if they’d never been apart, but will that be enough to bring them together?
ACROSS TIME is a fast paced story with strong characters. The intensity of Corri and Devin’s passion is palpable and only adds to the suspenseful tension Rayne Forrest has laced throughout the book. The new worlds and civilizations that authors create always amaze me, and ACROSS TIME is one of the best. Ms. Forrest’s stellar imagination has given us another science fiction romance to be in awe of. ACROSS TIME will certainly be worth your time.
