Under the Cat's Paw is the beginning of a new series by Camille Anthony. Willa is a Sprite of Sparkle. Sparkle was once a sentient planet until the inhabitants were captured and taken to other worlds as sex slaves. Willa is the slave of Lord Avron. She has been trained as a Sexengineer for a space going vessel. A Jenari, Bevel, purchases her for his vessel, The Quiet Kitty. Her master Lord Avron demands that she spy for him and has a tracking device implanted into her before sending her to Bevel. All Willa wants is to find her way back to Sparkle and help her sister Sprites return there as well. To her shock, the captain of the Quiet Kitty, Brent Sylenus is a Sh'Bahkyr, a shape shifting Tygyr with a man form. When in Tygyr form, he is invisible. Brent has a secret mission of his own, he seeks other Sh'Bahkyr survivors. Willa hopes to be able to grow a baby Sprite from her sex with Brent. No other species has succeeded in impregnating a Sprite, and it appears no male Sprites remain alive.
Sprites are submissive, and aroused by pain. They feed on the orgasms of their lovers, and the human masters use this knowledge to keep them on the verge of starvation. Now that she's on the Quiet Kitty, Willa begins to grow new plumage, as well as wings. But what will happen if Brent finds out about Lord Avron's bio-implant and his demands that Willa spy on Brent. Willa loves her Captain and Bevel, and they are more than happy to feed her all she wants, she doesn't want anything to come between them.
This is the beginning of a series and I was disappointed that the story ended as quickly as it did. I am looking forward to the next installment. It does include elements of BDSM, multiple partners, oral sex and is totally explicit in its descriptions of sexual practices.
