Daphne Remington is not the happy society bride-to-be that she leads everyone to believe. Daphne is a tabloid reporter’s dream girl. In the press she’s known as “Renegade Remington” or “Red Hot Remington” because of her wild escapades. Her last escapade left her on the front page of the Denver Post being pulled from the county club pool in her evening gown. Her angry family put their foot down, so Daphne is trying to stay out of trouble. She thought she’d found her soul mate when she met G.D. “Gordo” McCormick. Now a promising gubernatorial candidate, Gordo is finding fault in Daphne and she feels she’s losing herself trying to be the good fiancé. Needing a break, Daphne sets out on a last chance trip to have some fun before settling down.
Andy Branigan, a reporter for the Denver Post, is doing a fluff piece on honeymoon hotels. His first stop is the Inn at Maiden Falls. The Inn is a former bordello and is rumored to be haunted. While sitting in the parlor, Andy overhears a beautiful woman being turned away from the Inn, so he follows her. After conversation and sodas, sparks fly between them. Then Andy realizes this girl is "THE" Daphne Remmington. Andy convinces her he will write a real story about her if she agrees to share his room. With a little spiritual intervention, Andy and Daphne find themselves more and more attracted to each other.
Belle Bulette, resident spirit, needs one more notch in her bedpost before she can move on to the great beyond. In order to get her notch, Belle must somehow persuade Andy and Daphne to have sex. Belle is ready to move on, but first she has a story to tell. She also realizes her connection to Daphne and Andy is more than just a coincidence.
SWEET TALKIN’ GUY is a feel good story that has a little bit of everything for everyone. The addition of Belle’s story to this already entertaining tale, gives the reader more than they bargain for and the other resident spirits round out a stellar secondary cast. Colleen Collins adds paranormal and western elements to an already imaginative contemporary tale, all the while, giving the reader something truly special.
