Dark Fantasy Romance

THE SHADOWLORD by Charlotte Boyett-Compo

Until her enslavement, Aradia had been considered a great warrior for the Amazeen nation, but she fell in love with her captor and he too, fell in love with her. In the eyes of her Amazeen sisters, their love was an abomination to the Amazeen way of life. Men were only used as slaves or for procreation, never for love. Now freed from her captor lover, Aradia must save her sister, Orithia, and win back the respect of her people by thwarting the Rysalian kidnappers, the hated men.

Jaelan Ben-Ashaman, though not a Rysalian by birth, was one by trade. His role as a Shadowlord for the King of Ryslaia gave him power to act as the King’s enforcer and henchman. He also has psychic powers that serve to add to his reputation. Even as the King’s most feared killer, Jaelan still has enemies. He has never let his guard down, never been surprised by anything his mind reading couldn’t have already found out, until he met Aradia, again.

In her enslavement, Aradia had helped free a mineworker from a life of cruelty and certain death. That man was Jaelan. Jaelan has held a flame for the Amazeen beauty ever since that day, and when they meet again, he is determined to fulfill his dreams of having her. Jaelan is the man who imprisoned her sister, and while Aradia should be seeking her revenge, all she can see is a man who is not what he seems. A man that pulls at her heart that she thought would be closed forever to another love.

Strong, empowered heroine -- dark, handsomely mysterious hero -- greed, passion, and evil -- all the makings of a sensational series. If SHADOWLORD is any hint of what’s to come in Charlotte Boyett-Compo’s Shadowwind series, then we are in for a treat. SHADOWLORD has stunning visuals that shift the story to movie mode while you are reading it. With two alpha leads like Aradia and Jealen, there are bound to be some sparks flying and Ms. Boyett-Compo doesn’t disappoint. I’m looking forward to the future of the Shadowwind series, not only to continue Jaelan and Aradia’s story, but for some of the wonderfully funny secondary characters as well.
