Elizabeth Davis was traveling from Chicago out west to meet with her husband of one year. Her husband which she had only seen twice in that year. Her traveling companions on the stage had varied as they embarked and disembarked over the course of weeks it took to travel except for one constant. Chris McQuade. Chris was a quiet, handsomely foreboding man that, over those weeks of travel, had ingrained himself to her with just his presence.
Chris McQuade, a Federal Marshall, was on his way west to capture an outlaw -- a bank robber that had killed a deputy at his last robbery. Elizabeth had not gone unnoticed to Chris during their journey, but it wasn’t until they were alone in the stage that they were able to talk freely and get to know each other. What they discover could end the desire they feel for each other before it even has a chance to be explored. The outlaw is Mark Davis, Elizabeth’s husband.
This quick western will charm readers with the typical Wild West components: outlaws, marshals, and a feisty damsel in distress. But Denyse M. Bridger has written an anything but typical romance. Her vivid writing makes A SAFER HAVEN a delight to read and the love scenes make you wish you were the damsel in distress. I look forward to reading more from the engaging Denyse M. Bridger.
