Condemned by his own father and wolf pack to die a heinous death, through sheer strength and determination Vane Kattalakis escapes and takes his injured brother with him. While waiting for him to recover, Vane, a very powerful Were-Hunter (a wolf who can shape-shift into a human), meets ordinary mortal Bride McTierney and passion erupts between this unlikely couple. But thanks to the capricious Fates, Vane discovers that they’re mated and if within three weeks Bride doesn’t freely accept him as her life partner, he’ll forever be rendered impotent and cursed to lead a long and lonely existence.
Unwilling to force Bride and desirous of gaining her love, Vane sets out to woo her as prelude to telling her the truth about himself. Coming from a broken relationship, Bride’s charmed, more than a little amazed and somewhat suspicious at being this gorgeous man’s sole center of attention. But when she realizes the truth behind Vane, what will this poor lady do? Meanwhile, Vane’s kept busy trying to protect both an unsuspecting Bride as well as his comatose brother, as his mutually-warring parents individually launch campaigns of elimination.
Sherrilyn Kenyon’s supremely entertaining Dark-Hunter stories are always an ideal combination of magic, suspense, passion and action and so it is with this tale too. Vane is an intriguing creature, part wolf, part man and this dichotomy is not only in his physiology but is also inherent in his character – as such his conflicts both within and without lend an unexpected edge to the story. Bride comes across strong, true and even somewhat hilarious as the innocent woman caught up in battles beyond her wildest imaginings and with a creature who compels her heart and soul like none before. Together their passion scorches the very pages even as their troubles escalate. With suspense and lot of kick-ass action scenes, the pace of the book remains breathless. As always, Kenyon's books are a must-read for one and all!
