LEAVE IT TO CLEAVAGE by Wendy Wax

The last thing homemaker and socialite Miranda Smith expected to find while looking for stamps were photographs of her husband, the former linebacker, dressed up in ladies’ lingerie and with another woman. She’s still reeling under shock and horror of it, when Tom disappears, having siphoned their bank account and leaving behind her family business of Ballantyne’s Bras in dire financial straits. Now it’s up to Miranda, who’s never worked despite having an MBA, to save her company, her family, and the small town of Truro from total economic oblivion.

To accomplish this, Miranda decides to keep Tom’s disappearance and perfidy under wraps until Ballantyne’s back on the road to fiscal recovery. Even as Miranda mires herself in a pool of lies to maintain the charade, Blake Summers, the attractive Chief of Police, gets suspicious and starts investigating. A game of cat and mouse ensues but it can’t help subdue the growing sexual pull between Miranda and Blake. With a gossip columnist out to crucify her, a mother who didn’t believe in her, a grandmother with way too many secrets, an ailing father, wary employees, a town to save and a suspicious chief of police who made her incredibly horny, Miranda has a lot to do and little experience to do it all. Can there be a happy ending for her?

Wendy Wax once again bowls over her readers with a tale that’s as humorous as it is in-depth, innovative and emotional. Miranda’s plight when her husband abandons her is something that’s straight out of real life and the resultant confusion, turmoil and tears will surely wring the readers’ heartstrings. Blake is also intriguing - as a father who has no idea how to cope with either his growing daughter and her teenage turmoil and as a policeman who’s attracted to his chief suspect. Their growing romance, resultant passion and clashes are all immensely lively and appealing. The humor is contagious while the mystery about Tom’s disappearance retains the suspense until the very unusual and exciting end. The information about women’s feelings towards their bras and resultant idea of custom-made bras is impressive. Overall charming, entertaining and sizzling, “Leave it to Cleavage” is a must-read.
