The sacred talisman of the planet, Tonapa, had been missing for over a year. The Starlight Crescent is vital to the planets balance, and up until now, no one has been able find it. However, the Doma of the Verbot Temple has found out where it is and sent the Chosen One to retrieve it.
Zareen is a senior Verbot Temple warrior and the Chosen One to get the Starlight Crescent. A twisted wizard stole the Crescent and hid it in the Temple of Time. The Temple of Time is a doorway to strange worlds and only a virgin of the purest heart may enter without fear of not being able to leave. She may not eat or drink anything other than what she can carry with her, nor can she succumb to any sensual temptations, or she will be forever locked in the Temple.
Zareen encounters a world filled with danger at every turn and erotic temptations at every corner. A vampire, a shape-shifter, and a handsome, wealthy prince test her heart and soul but she resists temptation and stays steadfast on her mission. Each temptation, though, is harder to resist than the previous one. She finally meets a man, Merle, who seems to have no interest in her as a woman and has had problems of his own in the Temple. They join forces to complete Zareen’s mission, but Merle’s companionship brings about more questions than answers. Will they complete Zareen’s mission before they run out of provisions? Will Zareen be able to go back to living the life of a virgin after having fallen in love with Merle?
FORBIDDEN was an enjoyable book. Jane Toombs created a strange and wondrous world for her characters to live in. The pace of the book was a little slow, as most of it was Zareen on her mission, but the times she did meet up with adventure were great gems. I’m interested to see if Ms. Toombs’ series will continue with Merle and Zareen or if she will bring in a whole new cast of characters. Make sure and take the time to read FORBIDDEN.
