Since the death of Rissa’s mother, Pierre Le Blanc has been her guardian. She hates the life they lead, always on the move from one city to the next, never staying longer than a couple of weeks in any one place. She has no hopes of escape, of living her own life, until she arrives in Litchfield, Minnesota. For the first time in her life, Rissa is starting to make friends.
Lowell and Ollie Jenson are brothers and best friends. They work side-by-side on their horse farm. When both men become interested in Rissa Le Blanc, for the first time in their life they are at odds with each other. Rissa can’t seem to make up her mind between them and the problem only worsens.
When Pierre starts making the usual plans to hurt the townfolk, Rissa is determined to break free of her guardian’s chains. Will Lowell and Ollie help her? Or is the rift between them so strong that it can’t be repaired enough to help another?
DOUBLE DECEPTION is the second sequel to Ms. Dooley’s book, The Other Brother.
Readers will want to read The Other Brother, and His Brother’s Castoff first as DOUBLE DECEPTION refers back to events mentioned in the previous books. I quickly came to care for Rissa, and hoped she would escape the snares her guardian has set. Mr. Le Blanc made a delightful villain.
