Music
brings them
together, but will misunderstandings keep them apart?
Elaine
Sands who is
strapped for cash, auditions for the great Rex Tobin. His abrupt
dismissal
makes her angry and she confronts him on his rudeness. His response of
her
having something confuses Elaine, and then his unexpected offer to tour
with
the band shocks her. Unsure if she can perform in front of a live
audience and
if she can control her attraction to Rex, Elaine hesitates. Eventually
she
accepts his offer. However, a threatening phone call makes her aware
that
something isn’t quite right. Pushing aside her misgivings, Elaine goes
on tour
with the band. Living in close quarters with the band she finds her
attraction
for Rex increasing. Excitement for their first concert turns to dread
and fear
as the stage is set for murder. Hers. Although unsure of Rex’s excuse
that it
was an accident, Elaine continues on with the tour. As ominous
warnings, subtle
threats and unexplained accidents mount so does Elaine’s fear that
someone is
out to kill her. Everyone is a suspect, even the man she is attracted
to, Rex.
Will Elaine
figure out who
is behind all the accidents before one of them takes her life? Can she
trust
Rex with her life and her heart?
Bitter
Melody
is a story by Loretta
Jackson and Vickie Britton
about Elaine Sands and Rex Tobin. Elaine Sands is used to being in the
background but circumstances lead her to accept a position as a singer
with Rex
Tobin. Fighting attraction and for her life, Elaine is brought into a
world
where the glitter of fame is as sharp as the knife of betrayal. Not
knowing
whom to trust, Elaine sees everyone as a suspect. As the concerts
continue from
town to town, so do the unexplained accidents.
Ms. Jackson and Ms. Britton expertly weave mystery with a blend
of romance. The secondary characters were witty and kept the story
going. Trying to figure out who the
culprit behind
all the ominous accidents and threats is a brainteaser. Up until the
end I
never guessed. The final revelation was satisfying and unexpected.
I would
recommend Bitter
Melody to any reader who enjoys a good mystery with that dash of
romance.
