Dr. Margaret Amis-Hollings loses her tenure at the college she is teaching. There had been cutbacks in her department and she of course fell under the ax. As Margaret examines her options (or lack thereof) she receives notice that she inherited an old house from a distant relative in Virginia. She sees this opportunity as an answer to her prayers and decides to move in to the mansion until she is able to get back on her feet. However, when she sees the old place (which in her fantasies had been an Old-Southern type plantation mansion) Margaret feels her heart sink once more: the place needs major repairs. After inquiring around, she finds out the name of the best contractor in town who also happens to be a specialist in Historic Architecture. She knows that if she wants to get a decent price for the house, she will have to have quite a few things fixed.
Aaron Benton had been waiting for an opportunity to buy River Peace. He wanted the house not only because he believed it rightfully belonged to his family, but also because he always felt an odd sense of belonging about it. Now he has the chance to fix the place to his liking before buying it from the current owner. Of course, he wasn't expecting to have to deal with such an attractive and snotty new owner.
Soon after Margaret moves in, she realizes that she is not the only inhabitant in the house. There is something more than meets the eye about River Peace and the mansion.
Passionate Destiny is Dee S. Knight's second paranormal ghost story. Once again, Ms. Knight carefully weaves an enthralling plot, instantly drawing the reader into the story. Both main characters, Margaret and Aaron, are beautifully developed. Usually I tend to be taken more by Ms. Knight's heroes than by her heroines, however, I found myself liking Margaret quite a bit. She is initially reluctant to an involvement with Aaron, as she is coming out of a divorce...and she is all too aware that there could be yet something else influencing her feelings. Aaron is wonderful. Determined to get what he wants, he relentlessly pursues Margaret, however, he does not push her at all. This is one of the things I adore about Ms. Knight's heroes. She manages to pull a hero that is perfectly balanced, not quite an Alpha, yet not a wimp either. The love scenes in Passionate Destiny certainly match the feelings the main characters develop for each other: the passion and desperate need they have for each other are there in every scene. If you like romantic and sexy stories with plenty of h/h interaction you may want to give Passionate Destiny a try. I certainly recommend it to all erotic romance lovers, particularly if you like contemporaries and paranormals in a contemporary setting.
