Dr. Nikki
Adenike is used
to being in complete control as a top surgeon. In private she longs to
find a
master to surrender all her control. She longs for a master to fulfill
all her
sexual fantasies of being bound and laid out for his pleasure alone.
Her search
on the Internet leads her to the perfect man, master, Richard...or so
she
thinks.
Detective
Thomas Cavanah
has been hunting the serial killer dubbed by the press as
"Lucifer". Lucifer is always
one step ahead and as the body count rises, Thomas hopes for a mistake
to catch
a killer. A break in the case comes in form of Dr. Nikki Adenike, who
escaped
being Lucifer's victim. Lucifer is unwilling to let his intended victim
go
forcing Nikki and Thomas to go into hiding. As the body count continues
to rise,
so does the tension between Nikki and Thomas. Will Nikki and Thomas
survive
each other and the wrath of Lucifer...
The
powerful presence of
the characters Thomas and Nikki in Jaid Black's One Dark Night has
you rooting for them from the beginning to end. Nikki makes the reader
see her
as a strong character although she longing to be dominated in the
bedroom.
Ms. Black
explains the
relationship between a Dom (Dominant) and Sub (Submissive), with
clarity and
shows how each plays a significant role in the relationship. Just as
Nikki
learns through the Internet about what it means to be a Sub, so did I.
Thomas never
thought of trying to be a dominant, but with Nikki he does. The results
are an
explosive sexual relationship that still shows caring and softness.
Their
sexual chemistry leapt off the pages and the sexual scene between them
was hot,
kinky yet touching.
The
suspense of who was
Lucifer keeps you on your toes, as everyone became a suspect. The
supporting
characters of the novel added more layers and complexity to the plot.
Each line
made you look for a clue of who might be the killer. Up until the end I
had no
idea and in a very satisfying ending, Ms. Black shocked me and had me
laughing
in delight. Ms Black's novel had it all-mystery, paranormal and
eroticism that
was blended with style and details that captures the reader and never
lets them
go. I would recommend this as a read for anyone who loves romance,
mystery and
spice in their novels.
