During circumstances filled with heightened emotions and under the trauma of war, Major Max Leighton and Miss Caro Evers share a night of unforgettable passion on the golden Mediterranean island of Cyrene. Max then returns to war while Caro continues with her medical duties on the island. Some time passes and now Max is a highly eligible war veteran in London but is secretly sick of his staid civilian life. He’s never been able to forget Caro and as if in answer to his prayers, he meets her at a party, only Caro no longer seems to be interested in him.
Intrigued by her coolness and as well the secretive mission which had brought this reclusive woman to London, Max soon finds that there is more to Caro than meets the eye. In her footsteps, Max once again comes to Cyrene and renews his seductive assaults in an attempt to rekindle the passion that had once flamed between him and Caro. Is it just soul-searing passion that they have in common or has timeless love taken them captive? Can this emotionally-scarred war veteran be able to love Caro even when he comes to know her immense secret or will Caro have to give up her life’s goal for his love?
Nicole Jordan’s sensual story and unusual characters breathe magic into this sweeping tale of adventure and excitement. Caro especially is fascinating with her deep-rooted interest in medicine, a practice forbidden to women in those times, as well as her other special talents. Max is a soldier whose war wounds which have left him psychologically scarred and this makes his nameless fears are very understandable. Their mutual passion is such as to scorch the pages and leave the readers breathless with its intensity. Equally engaging are secondary characters and offshoot intrigues and romances. Jordan skillfully weaves mystery and adventure together with romance and action and as a result, “Master of Temptation” is a spicy, sexy romp which irresistibly sweeps its readers away into a historical era ripe with passion and danger.
