Pete Payne is out for revenge and he’s figured out the perfect plan to ruin his former girlfriend’s wedding. Gwyn Verde jilted Pete for his boss, the rich and eligible Dominic Laredo. After setting his plan in motion, Pete leaves for the Isla del Oro to seal the deal. Upon his arrival, Pete meets the manger of Isla del Oro, the beautiful Lily Tiger. He is smitten at first sight.
Lily Tiger is stressed beyond anything she’s experienced before. Dominic’s wedding is the biggest event she’s ever planned and she wants to make a good impression on her boss. Just days before the wedding, Lily discovers that things are not going according to plan. Then Pete Payne shows up…he's not on her list, but as Dominic’s employee, she hopes he can fix some of the problems before Dominic arrives. What will Lily do when she discovers that Pete is actually the cause and not the solution to her problems?
Pete Payne was not one of my favorite heroes. He did a lot of selfish things and acted immature throughout the book. Although he did redeem himself in the end, I never got that hero feeling about him. Lily’s character was better rounded and I ended up feeling really bad for her and wondered what she really saw in Pete.
I heard so many wonderful things about HOOK, LINE AND TINKER, and I was looking forward to reading FOR PETE’S SAKE. I wonder if my hopes were set too high. I wish I had read the first book in the series before reading FOR PETE’S SAKE, because I feel like I missed something. I wouldn’t rule out FOR PETE’S SAKE, but I would definitely read the prequel first.
