Haunted by
strange and disturbing dreams, Gwen Emrys hasn’t been sleeping or
eating
properly. Taking the advice of a
co-worker,
Gwen visits a recreated Fort Pitt. Once
there, she’s thrown back in time and
into the arms of the man who haunted her dreams.
Christian
Norgood is a doctor on the colonial frontier.
He doesn’t believe a word of Gwen’s explanations for
her strange appearance,
even if he is attracted to her strange way of speaking and radical
ideas.
Ms. Martin
has created an interesting premise, of a woman tossed back in time to
the era
of the Indian uprisings. However, the execution is somewhat lacking. With anachronisms and other oddities
abounding, I was constantly drawn out of the story to try to figure out
exactly
what the story was. As a romance, Dream
Weaver
is lacking;
however, as a piece of speculative historical fiction, it does work. Christian and Gwen are so
different that I have difficulty in seeing them together. This book was less than
satisfying to me.
