DRAGONSPELL by Donita K. Paul

Donita K. Paul shows spiritual insight, teaching us of God’s presence, love and providence in a fantastic tale set in the imaginary land of Amara.

Young Kale, a freed slave, found a treasure. She’s not sure what it is, but she is intrigued by the feel of it and the look of it, and the way she discovered it, the item almost called her. It’s not until later she learns it is a dragon egg.

A slave all her life, she is now on her way to become a servant to Paladin. Along the way Kale is met by Paladin people. They send her on another quest. Dragging her feet a little, Kale is sent on a quest to find a stolen Meech dragon egg. If they fail to recover the egg, the evil Wizard Risto could use it for his gain which would be the world’s loss. Kale feels totally unprepared for this calling, but for the good of everyone else, she accepts the challenge.

But, first, the quirky band of creatures must find the good Wizard Fenworth. In a world full of mystery, strange happenings, and unpredictable circumstances, and encounters with characters such as doneels, emerlindians, grawligs Kale learns what it means to be a true servant. Do they find the meech egg? What powers are ready to be unleashed to the once slave, now servant girl?

I highly recommend DRAGONSPELL. I am not a fantasy person but was immediately captivated by the enchanting Kale as she so easily was distracted by something intriguing. The spirtiual overtones are subtle but convincing. I’m saving the book for when my grandsons are older, it is a tale I have no hesitation recommending to people of all ages. Certainly DRAGONSPELL will become a classic surpassing, I am sure, Harry Potter, and riding alongside Tolkien’s Lord of the Ring tales.

DRAGONSPELL has a fascinating web-site as well. Descriptions of characters, the land, and other pieces of insightful information can be found there. Be careful! You could spend hours discovering all the treats on the site. http://dragonspell.us/

If you’re looking for a good take me away experience, or one for your children or grandkids, take a copy of DRAGONSPELL with you this summer. You’ll want to keep a copy but you will be compelled to pass the story on.
