Unlucky in
love, Melanie Walters is sure she’ll never find a man of her own. Always one to be dumped by guys, usually for
other women, Melanie’s self-esteem is crumbling to near nothingness. One evening on her way back home, she
realizes she has gone in the wrong direction. Unfamiliar in her
surroundings and
the darkness, Melanie realizes she’s in trouble. The
next thing Melanie knows, she is
awakening in a basement, tied up and completely powerless to Jacob
Dante, owner
of Club Dante that she frequents.
Jacob is a
vampire who has been watching Melanie from a far for along time. Jacob plans to teach Melanie what he likes
and desires, and shows her the real woman she is…
New author,
Christy Poff pens an interesting tale with Dante’s
Flame. Jacob Dante sizzles as a dastardly and sexy vampire
whose heart
and soul crave the one he loves. Melanie
is lonely, unloved and looking or Mr. Right.
Though initially scared of Jacob and the situation,
Melanie wastes no
time in settling in and heating up the pages with him.
However,
that is where my involvement to the story ended. There
is no question the air crackles and
passion explodes between Melanie and Jacob, but I found there was no
real
connection to who they really are for a reader to stay in the story and
care
about them. The storyline is an exciting
one, yet it seemed too rushed and no real depth within.
Christy
Poff is an author who I think will do well, in time.
She shows great potential with creative ideas
and passion in her story. While I did
like Melanie and Jacob for what I knew of them, there was too much
lacking to
really captivate me and blow me away. I
do hope to read more from this author though in the future, to watch
her
creative pen grow.
