Prosecutor,
Sidney Michaelson is caught in a spider web.
When she is prosecuting the case of a dead heiress,
Sidney finds herself the target
of a
psychopath who enjoys his own deadly games.
Usually a “by the book” attorney, Sidney begins
breaking the rules as
she works the case with Detective Cole Vladik, who steps outside any
bounds to
catch a killer. As Sidney tries to stay alive and
close her
case, she begins to feel more than just partnership for Cole. Not her usual type of man, Sidney tries to
fight temptation.
Detective
Cole Vladik knows Sidney Michaelson is way out of his league, but it
doesn’t’
stop him from wanting her. But when it’s
her life that is threatened, Cole realizes the extent of his feelings
for
her. IN a case of murder, violence and
danger, can Cole keep Sidney safe? He’s failed in the
past in
his opinion and isn’t sure he wants to take the risk again.
Can Cole
and Sidney catch the spider within his own web before it’s too late? Is there a future for them when the case is
over?
Kerrie
Droban’s writing talent is amazing. In the Company of Darkness is a
strong tale of murder, suspense, compelling and shocking surprises and
two lead
characters that will live on in my thoughts for along time to come. Cole and Sidney, two tortured souls who have
known violence, heartache and great loss of those they love. The sheer intrigue and suspense in this tale
is mind boggling and will send chills up and down the reader’s spines,
even
long after the story ends. I think that
I will be running from spiders for the rest of my life.
And truth be told, Ms. Droban couldn’t have
used a better weapon to suit this story, despite my new arachnophobia!!
However,
the only complaint I have about In the
Company of Darkness is that the editing could have been a whole
lot
better. It was sadness to the story itself
that care wasn’t taken to ensure perfection for this tale.
The editing needed, while plentiful, didn’t
necessarily take anything away from the context of the story or the
power of
Sidney and Cole.
I loved
this tale, from start to finish; it is full of suspense, danger,
intrigue and
great characters. Kerrie Droban could
definitely give some of today’s suspense writers a run for their money.
Even the mind of a madman was
done with
precision and draws a reader in. The
reader waits with bated breath to uncover the villain and might even
relish in
the intelligence of this person, who has gotten away with so much for
so long. This
was one heck of a story, that even though graphic with death and
skeletal
remains, I couldn’t put this one down. I know I will be looking for
more of Ms
Droban’s work in the future. In fact, I
most certainly look forward to it.
