TRUE COURAGE by DEE HENDERSON

It’s as difficult to write a review for Dee Henderson’s books, as it is to find yourself reluctant to end one of her spinning yarns. I don’t want to give away too much but you have to know enough so you won’t miss a great book.

Caroline meets FBI Agent Luke Falcon at her sister Sharon’s wedding. The attraction is immediate, but Caroline isn’t sure she can handle a relationship with someone in his line of work. She’s a teacher and not used to the pressures involved with a law man. Caroline wonders if she should end the relationship. Before anything can happen Caroline’s sister Sharon, nephew Benjamin, and brother-in-law Mark, disappear. When she tells Luke, he doesn’t want Caroline to panic, but he fears the worst. In a matter of hours, Luke’s called in the FBI.

Caroline is thankful God brought Luke into her life, especially now when she needs someone strong, someone to lean on. His business like attitude makes her feel secure but she’d also like him to show some emotion. When a deal goes awry Caroline fears the worst. Her faith is tested and her love for Luke is on the line.

Luke has an old nemesis, killer Frank Hardin. Markers indicate Hardin might be involved in this most personal case to Luke – his family. Will Luke be able to be objective enough to be effective in solving this case? When the worst happens will Luke hold it together or fall apart? What will happen when the real kidnapper is revealed?

Other books in the series have been romances with suspense, TRUE COURAGE; however, is suspense with a romance woven through. The main themes of sacrificial love, family love, and God’s providence are expertly threaded throughout the story. The identity of the kidnapper was a complete surprise to me. Caroline’s actions took me off guard. Like a roller coaster ride, rising and plunging, leaning over the side, slamming back, snapping forward – this is the experience of reading True Courage.

I highly recommend and without hesitation award the Reviewers Choice Award.
