Lissa and
David have fallen into a rut with their sex lives, or quite possibly
they’ve
always been in a rut. Lissa has often tried to persuade him to indulge
her
fantasies of bondage and dominance, yet David is much too subdued to
try what
she has in mind. She has contented herself with the “vanilla” acts of
bondage
that he will agree to, while dreaming of the hard core bondage that she
desperately
desires. She longs for someone to tame her, pushing her into
submission. David
just isn’t cut out for that. Lissa never thought that she could have
the sexual
life that she had been dreaming of, until one Saturday night a
mysterious
couple entered their lives, and made their boring table for two a
sexually
daring table for four.
David is in
love with his wife. He could never do to her what she wants him to; he
simply
loves her too much. Likewise, he could never ask her to do what he
secretly
desires, because he respects her. He is content with their one night of
sex a
week and their staid, predictable lives until the stunning, sexy blonde
and her
dashing companion enter their lives. Then everything that he thought he
was
content with began to change. David suddenly found that his sexual
desires do run
a little daring and that his wife’s submissive desires are not so bad
after
all. His and Lissa’s new friends seem to be just what they needed to
spice up
their mundane love life.
Adora and
Master Richard mysteriously show up in the diner where David and Lissa
are
enjoying their Saturday evening dinner. They invite themselves to join
them,
thus shaking up their previously dull sex lives. Little did Lissa and
David
know, by agreeing to join them for another dinner, they were also
agreeing to
change the monotony of their sex lives, for the better. Lissa is
entranced with
Master Richard and his overt arrogance, while David is enamored with
Adora’s
stunning beauty. The combination of their contrasting looks and
personalities
encourage Lissa and David to embark on a journey that tests their
relationship
and fulfills their fantasies. Will they each finally get what they want
from
their marriage or will they revert back to their routine love life?
Master
Richard and Adora have their own motives for choosing Lissa and David.
They are
both dominants and find that their aggressive personalities sometimes
clash in
their sex lives. They each need a submissive to act out their own
fantasies.
Lissa and David are perfect for them to play with. David isn’t much of
a
dominant, however nor is he submissive. He longs for Adora to try her
hand at
dominating him. Lissa, on the other hand, is a submissive at heart, she
longs
to be tamed, and Master Richard is just the man for the job. David
grants Lissa
permission to engage in a sexual, dominant/submissive relationship with
Master
Richard. In spite of her initial hesitancy, she gives him the okay to
let Adora
have her way with him. They each feel that their marriage is strong
enough to
endure this physical challenge and that they will be better off
together for
acting out these roles and getting it out of their systems. However,
when the
fantasies are acted out, and they are left with each other again, will
their
relationship be solid or will they have crossed a boundary where things
will
never be the same?
Table for Four is captivating, to say
the least.
It is somewhat disturbing to think that couples could view the trading
of
spouses as commonplace, yet it was tastefully handled in this book.
Lissa and
David couldn’t satisfy each other sexually, nor could Adora and
Richard.
Therefore, the answer was obvious when the couples encountered each
other,
switch spouses. In doing so, each person found a soulmate of sorts,
which
encouraged them to get in touch with their inner thoughts and desires.
The
relationships that ensue involve mutual love and respect amongst the
four of
them. Important to note, is the fact that there are no group sex
scenes, nor is
there any homosexual sex. It is strictly heterosexual couples, but
there is
partner switching. Ms. Hunter pens an extremely sensual novel that
touches on
some interesting, socially taboo subjects and handles them with finesse
and
caution. She does an excellent job of writing a romance that deals with
polygamy, BDSM, marital infidelity, and sexual incompatibility, all the
while
adding in romance, love, and tenderness. Table
for Four is a truly interesting read.
