Lady Anne
Ellison is shocked when her dying father confesses that he never
secured her
with a husband and that she must stay with her Aunt until she comes
into wealth
in two years. Anne travels to her Aunt's at Mute Hill and her life is
changed
forever.
Anne's
cousin, Fiona, is betrothed to a greed man, Eustace Chisholm, when his
nephew,
Christopher “Kit”, who she was supposed to marry, was accused of murder
and now
presumed dead. Anne is furious that Fiona has to marry Eustace and
tries to
come up with a plan to stop it from happening.
While out
riding, Anne encounters some reivers and most importantly, to her
surprise, she
also finds Kit Chisholm who was presumed dead.
Anne and Kit find the more they discover about each
other, the more they
feel they can work together to stop the wedding between Eustace and
Fiona and
to gain control back of Kit's inheritance and rightful title. The more
time Kit
and Anne spend together, Kit realizes that while he wants his rightful
place in
society back, he doesn't wish to marry Fiona – but Anne!
With secret
yearnings, help of The Secret Clan and adventure, Kit and Anne find
magic in
the Highlands!
Amanda
Scott's fourth book of The Secret Clan is an exciting and enjoyable
historical
romance. Kit and Anne are enchanting characters who find themselves in
the
middle of the mischievous secret Clan.
There are many secondary characters in Reiver’s
Bride who add spice and are great additions to the
story. The mountains, lochs and castles
of Scotland are depicted splendidly
for the
reader, and they feel they are along for the journey with the
characters.
Humour,
creativity, love and realistic portrayals of 1951 Scotland are found in Reiver's
Bride by Amanda Scott. I hope the
author continues The Secret Clan
series.
