Katherine’s the quintessential good girl, determined to leave her ghetto roots behind. She’s got a reputation as a successful district attorney to uphold; it wouldn’t do for her to let go and indulge her fantasies. Jake Monroe, ex-con, remembers when Kate was just an uptight, prissy teen. Seeing her again, all grown up, makes him want to live out all his kinky fantasies with her. With nothing in common but the past they both want to forget and a taste for forbidden pleasure, they could both be destroyed if what they want comes out.
ONCE A THIEF is a quick hot read from the pen of Doreen DeSalvo. Ms. DeSalvo gives us characters to care about, even if we are only getting a quick glimpse into their lives. Jake and Kate have an explosive sexual encounter that leaves the reader wanting a longer, more intense glimpse. Perhaps, Ms. DeSalvo will grant us another visit with Kate and Jake, as the ending of the tale leaves us wondering if happily ever after is truly in the future for this couple.
