Lucinda
meets the devilishly handsome Lord Nicholas de LaPointe at a masquerade
ball in
Venice. She is swept away by
his charm and
they indulge in a one-night stand, each remaining hidden behind their
masks.
They don’t even know each other’s real names, instead calling each
other Adam
and Eve. After their passionate, one stand, they part company, never
thinking
to see each other again. However, Nicholas is drawn to Lucinda, not
knowing
that she is “Eve”. He vows to learn more about her, and soon finds a
way that
he can get closer to her. He makes her an offer that she can’t refuse,
he wants
her in his bed for two months, in exchange, he will help her father who
is imprisoned.
She reluctantly accepts his offer, and they begin a torrid love affair.
Each of
them has every intention of walking away once the two months is over,
yet the
more time they spend together, the harder they find it to do so.
LUCINDA’S
CONTRACT maintains a quick pace throughout. The reader quickly gets
swept up in
Lucinda and Lord Nicholas’ passionate affair. They are both characters
that are
full of life and depth. It is an enjoyable read that outlines the terms
of a
contract that is meant to be broken.
