Brixton Smythe-Medway was a handsome rogue who had his share of lovely ladies about London. He had always vowed he would never marry until he was the age of 50 most of all he would never marry the shy and plain Fanny Epping. Lady Francesca Epping had been in love with him since she was 12 and he had kissed her in his mothers rose garden. Brix on the other hand found her to be more of a nuisance who seemed to be everywhere he is trying to get him to notice her.
When she heard him boast at the home of a mutual friend of his desire for her to leave him alone, Fanny is deeply hurt and angered. In a moment of anger she wages a bet with him that she could and would break his heart in a mere 6 weeks, and seals the eager with a passionate kiss that surprises even Brix.
The wager enrages her brother who demands her to call it off yet Fanny
is determined not to let anyone sway her decision and leaves her brothers home. The shy Fanny soon is seen at many of the social gatherings in London and getting the looks and interest of many of the men in London, especially Brix's friend Sir Douglas Drury. Brix finds himself jealous over the attention Drury or any man is showing toward her, and though his pride tells him he must not loose this wager, he has the desire and passion seek to have her for his own.
He can't forget the kiss she gave him in that moment of anger when she made that wager, it invaded his mind even in his sleep and the passion she displayed lit a spark of desire in him to want to taste those lips again.
A story of passion and romance that all readers will love. Fanny Epping is a woman who
in a moment of anger and rage fights back in a way unheard of in her time for a woman to do. Fanny is the strong force in the novel and readers will find her a woman ahead of her time. I like her strength and spirit and know she will, no matter what the cost, end up with Brix. This is no damsel ion distress but more of a heroine who captures not only the heart of the man she loves but the hearts of those who read the story.
