Contemporary Paranormal Romance

Jack Wolfe promises his young son, Conner, that someday he'll take him to Ireland, the land of his ancestors. When Conner dies from a congenital heart disease, Jack travels to Ireland with Conner's ashes. Jack, despondent and suicidal, lives only to keep his promise to Conner.

While visiting his elderly Aunt Kaite in the village of Tirnageata, Jack meets Cala McCoy, an orphan raised by his aunt. Jack vaguely remembers knowing her as a child, when he traveled to Ireland with his parents. But there is a deeper, mysterious connection between them.

St. James has developed unique characters in an interesting setting, although I was sometimes distracted from the story by the author's flowery language. New questions arose as I read and I was kept engrossed and turning pages, looking for answers. Mysteries unfolded slowly throughout, with ancient Druid rituals and magical powers taking center stage. This is a fantastic story, in the literal sense of the word, and not a genre I normally read. I was impressed by the believable viewpoint that St. James, a female author, has portrayed for her male main character in this, her first novel.
