The job was
supposed to be easy for P.I. Jessie Harmon, but dealing with rancher,
Blake
Sutherland, proves anything but. Hired
by Hollywood billionaires, William
and Benita
Sloan, Blake's grandparents, to track him down and get him to accept
his
inheritance, Jessie travels to the middle of nowhere in Texas to accomplish the deal
of her
career. But the infuriating Blake is
hardly eager to have anything to do with the Sloan's and prefers his
life just
the way it is. But Jessie plans to stick
around and help him change his mind.
Blake
Sutherland has held a grudge against the Sloan's for years. The turned
their
back on his mother, now deceased, when she married his father. Blake in no way feels obligated to have
anything to do with them. But when
Jessie Harmon plants herself on his ranch, his life becomes pure hell
watching
her in her cowgirl attire day in and day out, waiting for him to change
his mind. Blake discovers that his life
will never be
the same since his P.I., turned cowgirl, has come to stay.
Will Blake
and Jessie discover that the real fortune might just be the love of a
lifetime?
Gemma
Halliday is a new author for me, but I plan to be watching for more of
her work
in the future after reading, The Cowboy's Fortune. Blake and Jessie were so much fun! The sparks flew instantly, as did the sass
and “give as good as you get” dialogue from both characters. Blake and Jessie are stubborn, strong and
opposites. Jessie is a city girl who
thinks she can handle ranch life and plans on showing Blake just what
she's
made of. It is entertaining to watch
Jessie out and about on the ranch. Ms.
Halliday depicted the scenery and hard work accurately of ranch life. Jessie was not only entertaining but full of
surprises as well, for Blake and the reader.
The Cowboy's Fortune
by Gemma Halliday is a pleasing and sweet contemporary romance that
leaves
readers feeling good about love.
