Autumn
MacAllister, a smoke jumper, returns home to Montana after an injury puts an
end to her
career. Her hometown is really the last
place she wants to be. It holds the
horrible
memory of her parent’s horrific deaths. Where Autumn returns to heal,
she soon
finds herself embroiled in an arsonists game and threat to the town. As
a
reporter for the local newspaper, Autumn is in the thick of the story.
Returning
home also brings Autumn sweeter memories. Seeing Jack Dillon again,
reminds her
of when she once tutored him and his having a huge crush on her. This time though, Autumn feels the heat and
sparks that fly between them.
Jack Dillon
is surprised to feel the same for Autumn MacAllister as he did years
ago. As a firefighter, Jack thinks he is
the last
man Autumn would want to be with after her parent’s death in a fire,
the same
one that killed his own father. But the
more time they spend together, chasing an arsonist hell bent on
controlling the
town, Jack and Autumn set their own fires within each others arms.
Fires rage
war on the quiet town and threaten everything Autumn and Jack hold
dear. Can
they stop it before it destroys everything?
Denise A.
Agnew has become one of my favourite romantic suspense authors and Combustion is an amazing tale to
add her resume of great stories. Autumn
and Jack are great characters whose pain is deep. Both have wounds from
the
past to overcome and together they might find the healing balm for
their
souls. The danger of the arsonist is
gripping. The arsonist seems to know
all, see all and has the power to seemingly be everywhere.
Combustion
is explosive and suspenseful; the characters add energy and realism to
the story.
Ms. Agnew
has a great handle on writing romantic suspense that is totally
enthralling. The accuracy in which Ms.
Agnew depicts of firefighters and their world show she has a vast
knowledge of
it and learned well to assist her craft.
Combustion was an amazing
read and definitely not to be missed.
