ADAM'S STONE by Kevin R. Paglia

Adam's Stone is an intriguing book. There is an overriding theme of good versus evil. While there are many characters, the hero is Mark Peters, PR director for GRI. GRI is a multinational corporation devoted to saving natural resources. He announces the discovery of an ancient stone that proves the existance of Adam. The language on it is unknown, however Riley Andreski sees it on CNN and is able to read it. She has the ability to hear what people are truly saying, or what she refers to as a "soul-echo". In addition, a language she made up in childhood is actually the original, Adamic language.

A good angel, Cassia helps Riley, while a demon, Abashen originally tries to stop her from reading it. A religious con man, Kory gets recruited by Abashen to make sure Riley does read the stone.

A self-serving reporter, an archaeologist and others are followed in relation to the stone as well. Revealing much more would be too much of a spoiler for the story.

I enjoyed the book, it was interesting, suspenseful, and the glimpses into angelic and demonic battles added to the overall intrigue. While the plot was excellent, the hero and heroine are not as well developed. Riley and Kory spend most of the novel together, but are not romantically involved. Riley's emotions and inner process as described, didn't seem feminine.

If you are looking for a suspenseful, exciting, fast moving plot, this is your book. If you want a well-developed romance, this is not the book for you. I will look forward to reading additional books from this author.
