TUCSON is a compilation of four previously published stories into an anthology.
Glorianna Wilton, in Sonoran Sunrise, storms into Army Camp MacDowell, furious at her father for bringing her out to the uncivilized Arizona Territory just when she was beginning to win the interest of a man back East. Lieutenant Conlon Sullivan is instantly captivated by the fiery red-head and vows to make her his. Can he win Glorianna’s love before a mad-man carries her off?
Kathleen O’Connor, in Sonoran Star has gone out to the Arizona Territory to visit her cousin and help with the birth of her babies. But to her surprise and horror, she is mistaken for a criminal the moment she gets off the coach and is thrown into jail. Can she convince Deputy Quinn Kirby that she is not the woman he thinks she is and help him find the real criminal?
Sonoran Sweetheart, Lavette Johnson, is a former slave. She has agreed to a life of servitude for ten years to care for an elderly woman in agreement that her owner would pay her father’s outstanding debts and help him start a new life. When blacksmith Josiah Washington takes an interest in her, she also wins the interest of a man who wants her for the business she would bring to his establishment. Will Josiah rescue Lavette from a life of prostitution, or will the other businessman be able to buy her time?
In Sonoran Secret, Eduardo Villegas agrees to marry a woman sight unseen in order to settle her father’s debts. To his horror he discovers that the woman is named Ugliness and she has been beaten so much she can no longer speak. Eduardo renames the woman Chiquita and works to gain her trust and love. Will he succeed before someone puts a price on Chiquita’s head?
I liked the fact that TUCSON has four stories that are related to one another and you are able to continue learning about the characters you fell in love with in the first story. The entire collection is well-written, sure to win the interest of any historical romance lover. Each story has a touch of suspense in it as well.
TUCSON is available now, and readers will love it as it introduces them to
the Arizona Territory when people were just beginning to settle it.
