Phaeryn had come to find
a woman,
preferably a small, delicate, submissive one able to bear his children. Kayla didn’t go out that night looking for a
man, but when she hears Phaeryn’s vampiric siren call, she’s extremely
upset
when she can’t resist it. He doesn’t
want anything to do her; she just wants him to fix things. A night of
passion
leaves them both somewhere they never expected to go -- in love with
each
other.
Despite the lack of
background to
the vampire’s culture, Ms. Evans has created a delightfully
multi-layered
story. Phaeryn and Kayla are exactly
what the other needs to complete them, but they resist the attraction
from the
first moment. This book is, like all
from Changeling Press, extremely hot and steamy; yet, full of a deep
romantic
eroticism that I hadn’t expected. I also
hadn’t expected such a fascinating secondary character in Phaeryn’s
cousin,
Vance. I’d like to see him get a story
of his own.
