XYLON WARRIORS: INITIATION by Ruth D. Kerce

Sent to Earth on a mission to retrieve a DNA compatible woman for breeding purposes, Warrior Braden Koll has found one in Alexa Sandor.  Now it’s up to him to not only explain the situation on Xylon where their race is dying out thanks to incursions by the Egesa—a half-creature, half-humanoid race of Slave Masters, but to initiate her into the ways of Xylon sexuality and mating.

Suffering from strange nightmares about a foreign planet and highly erotic dreams starring a man she’d never met, Alexa Sandor is not the least bit interested in Braden’s explanations.  Still, she’s attracted to him, attracted enough to hear him out about this sexual ceremony that will prepare her for breeding, helping to save Xylon and Earth from the slave masters.

It’s a very good thing that Ms. Kerce has already told us there is more to this series.  Xylon Warriors: Initiation is both a wonderfully rich romance in and of itself, but also a delightful introduction to characters and situations that leave the reader wondering ‘what’s next?’  The tapestry of characters introduced and developed in this book showcases a richly layered world and culture just waiting to be explored and managing to do it all in one novel without loosing sight of the primary story is a talent that few can master.

Braden and Alexa’s story, woven throughout that tapestry, is deliciously hot and intense.  Their bond to each other, despite traditions that could force them apart, is splendidly displayed.  The initiation ceremony is everything one could wish for, binding an already attracted couple more tightly together.  I hope we don’t have long before we’re revisiting Xylon and its warriors.
