Amber Shaw, owner of Fair Game, Inc., takes on a new case. Sadly, for the first time since she started the business she made a mistake. Granted it had been an honest one, but it was still a mistake and it would cost her, as her alleged victim sued her.
Grayson Charles is minding his own business, waiting for his brother Roger at a restaurant, when this little redhead spitfire dumps the contents of an ice bucket on his lap. Before she leaves, she informs Grayson, believing him to be his brother Roger, that it was retribution from the girlfriend Roger dumped. Grayson tells her she has the wrong person, but she does not believe him, as she turns around to leave she faces a man that is the mirror image of her victim. At that point it dawns on her: twins!
When Amber's client hired her she didn't mention the fact that Roger had an identical twin. Grayson sued Amber, despite the fact that she explained that it had been an honest mistake and that she would pay for the dry cleaning of his trousers. As a result, now Amber not only has to pay that bill, but she is also stuck, working every evening for one month, at Grayson's law firm. Grayson wasn't exactly thrilled either, but now they will have to deal with it.
Stephanie Bedwell-Grime Fair Game, Inc. is a well-written full-length contemporary romance. This book brings us the story of two people who have had their hearts' broken and who as a result, have developed a cynical perspective about love. Amber, the heroine is a PI who has found a rather unusual niche, bringing the expression "don't get mad…get even" to a whole new level. I found this to be a quite refreshing twist. Grayson is a dedicated and loyal attorney, who has been doing what has been expected of him all his life, until he meets Amber. Although they both are initially reluctant, the more time they spend together the more attracted they become, learning that they can trust and rely on each other. The plot of this story moves nicely and it has some elements of suspense, particularly at the end. The story centers mostly on the interaction between Amber and Grayson so the secondary characters are not particularly extensive or detailed, however, Grayson's twin, Roger, is a nice highlight in the cast. If you like contemporary romances you may want to give Fair Game, Inc. a try.
