Hannah Holt is far too
innocent in
the ways of the world to be running a nightclub. She’s
also the former member of a strict
religious sect. No surprise then that
she refuses to press charges against the man who tried to kidnap her.
Sheriff
Adam McGreggor wasn’t really surprised at any of Hannah Holt’s actions
in light
of what he’d learned about her past.
Still, it frustrated him that Hannah would forgive
men who were so
brutal to her. Yet she fascinated him
and he was determined to learn what made her tick.
Beyond the Threshold does not live up to it’s
billing as a paranormal romantic
suspense. It is my opinion that it is
more an inspirational romance with a heavy dose of internal religious
strife to
provide conflict. None of the characters
motivations for their behavior is reasonably explained until the final
six
pages in a very rushed ending. The
epilogue makes up for the some of the final rush, proving that the
barely
developed feeling between Hannah and Adam does survive everything
thrown at
them, including murder attempts, legal tangles and a trip over the
Threshold. Still, I was left highly
dissatisfied with
this book as it was billed as one thing and is actually another.
