Fourteen months ago, Joely Birch left her husband and her home to start a new life. Her husband, Rey, a workaholic, never had time for her and on top of that she lost her job over her claim of sexual harassment. She feels the need to get away from everything and start fresh. Throwing divorce papers at Rey, Joely left New York for the great outdoors of Colorado. Now life is good, Joely’s a successful artist and her gallery is quickly becoming a success. Then without any warning, Rey shows up at her gallery. He wants another chance with Joely, but he also has another reason for being there. What else could he possibly want? Is Joely brave enough to find out? Is she brave enough to give them a second chance?
Rey Birch, a successful New York attorney, misses his wife Joely very much. Rey knew his marriage had problems, but when Joely walked out on him, he was devastated. He tried to move on with his life, but he just can’t seem to get over Joely. Rey wants to try and save their marriage, even if it means giving up everything he’s worked for. When business calls Rey to Colorado, he heads out with a proposition for Joely. He wants to live as her husband again for one month and if they can’t make it work, he will sign the divorce papers and leave her alone. Will he be able to convince Joely to accept his offer?
AS IF YOU NEVER LEFT ME, is a charming story about two people who can’t live with each other, but can’t live without each other either. Joely never had a doubt about Rey’s love for her or the passion they ignite with just look or a touch. Her problem has always been, Rey’s need to work and never giving her any of his time. Rey thought Joely wanted him to be successful. Success to Rey was putting in a lot of hours at work. When she presented him with the divorce papers and walked out, he was hurt and shocked. At the time, he really thought she didn’t love him any more. Can they get beyond the past and start all over? If secondary characters Perry, Virginia and Lisette have anything to do with it they will!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it’s exactly the kind of story that I love to read. Joely and Rey are wonderful characters and the love and passion they share, makes you want to see them together again. The E-rotic rating given by Ellora’s Cave surprised me a little, because this story doesn’t contain the usual E-rotic material. The sex is hot and detailed but it’s more on the sensual side and not what I would consider a typical erotic.
Elizabeth Jewell has created real story with real characters that you can’t help but fall in love with. If you are looking for a spicy romance that will warm your heart, then AS IF YOU NEVER LEFT ME is the book for you…so don’t miss it.
