Fabulously wealthy and beautiful society queen Grace Hall is exactly the
kind of woman that John Smith, owner of an elite personal bodyguard
service, had no time for. But the very first meeting of their eyes
across a crowded room sparks off an irresistible attraction. When a
murderer starts killing the city’s most prominent women, Grace is forced
to hire John Smith. His autocratic precautions, no-nonsense attitude and
outright mockery at her privileged lifestyle provokes an equally
forceful response from an usually calm and serene Grace.
As the
murders continue unabated and the relentless pressure on her to quit
heading the Hall foundation increases, Grace finds her extremely
dangerous bodyguard to be both a source of strength as well as
temptation. In return, John too feels the same but worries about his
growing lack of professionalism towards his latest client as well as is
afraid to give up his loner lifestyle. Can these two utterly opposite
beings find any common grounds to establish a relationship, apart from
the searing passion which scorches into life between them?
Jessica
Bird once again stuns the readers with a stylish and stirring tale of
romance, passion and suspense. A spunky society beauty and an tough
ex-soldier with a dark past and a tender core are the most incongruous
leading couple and their tempestuous ‘to be or not to be’ kind of
relationship is the key to this tension-filled saga. As Grace and John
fight, laugh and gradually come to understand each other, the sexual
tension between them increases proportionally and its hit-and-miss
nature keeps the readers on tenterhooks. Plot development is crisp,
while the suspense is initially very good, the ending comes as a bit of
a letdown.
In
short, “An
Unforgettable Lady”
is a well-written, challenging, pace-setting kind of work which has
rapidly made Jessica Bird the rising new star in the world of romantic
suspense.
