The last thing
Annie Winston wanted was to return to her hometown, dress in a hideous
gown and be one of her sister’s bridesmaids. Not only has her husband
left her for some else, she’s lost her glamorous job, and was more than
twenty pounds overweight. Not a very auspicious homecoming. Goodbye
piece of mind, hello humiliation.
Jeremy Dunstan had
a crush on Annie since high school. He knew she was coming back to town
and the old, seductive dreams about her returned in full, living color.
When she walked into his store, Jeremy couldn’t believe how well Annie
grew up –talk about all woman. Unfortunately, the old nerves returned
full force, turning him back into the dorky, geek in high school all
over again.
Add witches,
wizards, magical creatures and stir everything up and Annie and Jeremy’s
normal life gets tumbled on its side. That’s not a bad thing when they
land in each others arms, and the magic really beginnings. But then
things start to unravel, they must learn if their love is magical or
only caused by magic.
The story opens
quickly and sweeps the reader into their lives. The humor’s not only
charming; it makes the romance between Annie and Jeremy all the sweeter.
I love the characters and enjoyed watching them fall in love. The magic
started subtlety, easily woven in the story. Then it seemed to take
over, making it a harder for me to enjoy the book the way I wished. I
would have liked to focus on the characters more and the magic less. By
the time the end came, I found I still enjoyed the story and absolutely
fell in love with the characters.
