The heroine, Kate
Holly is a clinical psychologist who must have the worst practice ever.
Even to the point where she is continually threatened by her patients.
But the crazy doesn’t end there. Her receptionist is a rich gal who has
a soft spot for others. She works as Kate's publicist, trying to get
more business. Kate's got a handsome firefighting husband she plans to
divorce because she is afraid he will die at work, like her father had.
And, there is a shrink who is like a mentor/love interest, too. The
story develops as she adopts a dog, and gets into one snafu after
another.
Charlotte Hughes authored books with Janet Evonovich and it shows in the
style/voice/semi-plot of this book. I had a difficult time writing my
review because the Kate is really a lot like Stephanie Plum in Janet
Evonovich’s One for the Money series. But, then, I thought, does it
really matter? It’s a fun read. (Although I do think the reason for
divorcing her apparently handsome, honorable, caring and loving husband
should send her to the shrink instead of a divorce lawyer.)
Final conclusion: What Looks Like Crazy is a fun read, and if you enjoy
character driven books you will undoubtedly not regret reading this one.
