Born in a kingdom
where magic equals power, the Corvis brothers were destined for great
things. But when a prophecy foretelling disaster was revealed, the
people of Katan banished the brothers to an island without women to
preserve peace and avoid destruction.
Evanor accepted
his fate, waiting patiently for his destined bride to appear, the one
foretold in the prophecy. After watching his older brothers’ fall in
love, he desperately wanted the same chance. But fate had a weird sense
of humor. When his sister-in-law was attacked, Evenor used his magic—his
voice—to save her…and lost both. How would he charm a woman if he
couldn’t use his voice to win her love?
When her best
friend moved to Nightshade Island, Mariel allowed herself to be
persuaded to move as well, convincing herself the male influence would
be good for her son. Yet, one look at the silent Evanor sent a deep
yearning through her. As a healer, she couldn’t turn away from the
challenge of healing his injury. As a woman, she couldn’t refuse his
charm and silent dance of seduction. But as they built their world
together, the Island of Nightshade came under the scrutiny of the
Council of Katan. If they can’t find a solution, the brothers risk not
only their new brides, but their own lives as well.
I love the
characters, the scenery and the unique world where the brothers live.
The story of each brother is woven into every book and spans the whole
series. Each brother has their own interesting take on what happens,
giving the readers an extra glimpse into their lives. Unfortunately,
Evanor and Mariel’s story felt a little overpowered with the crisis that
happens on Nightshade. I don’t feel they were slighted, but I would’ve
liked to have seen them take a bigger role in their destiny. I’m a fan
of The Sons of Destiny series and look forward to the next installment.
