Chased across
countries, hunted by a mages like animals, Amara and her sister Arora
escaped to a seemingly deserted island in the middle of the ocean. After
days stranded on a raft, they’re grateful for dry land and real, honest
to goodness, food. But when she stumbled upon man, Amara put herself in
danger in order to find out if their new home was the safe haven they’d
hoped or a trap to capture them.
Frustrated by
loneliness and unrequited desire, Trevan impatiently waited for his
supposedly destined bride. Banished to Nightfall Island because of a
thousand year old prophesy, Trevan was forced to watch his older
brothers slowly court and fall in love with their women. He missed the
romance, the chase, even the basic comfort of holding a woman’s hand. So
when he stumbled across Amara, Trevan knew she was all his. Destiny said
so. Now all he had to do was convince her as well.
Confronted with a
family of mages, Amara battled her natural instinct to escape. They
swear they would cause her and her sister no harm, but who can trust
mages? Trevan slowly worked to tear down the walls around her, but Amara
swiftly built more. Not nicknamed The Cat for nothing, Trevan stalked
his prey, determined to claim the biggest prize of his life.
The interaction
between these two characters leaps off the pages. They are both unique
and perfectly match each others temperaments. The humor is woven
throughout the story, and effortlessly pulls me into the world of
Nightfall Island. Trevan is enchanting with his magic and wicked sense
of humor, and Amara matches him step by step with her prickly nature and
can do no wrong attitude. Talk about a spicy relationship. The novel The
Cat revolves around the romance between Trevan and Amara with little
external complications. I loved it and eagerly look forward to the next
book in the series.
